Data Management Enhancement for Ontario Digital Literacy and Access Network
The Ontario Digital Literacy and Access Network (ODLAN) is seeking to improve its data management processes to better support its mission of enhancing digital literacy and access. Currently, the organization faces challenges in efficiently collecting, organizing, and storing data related to grants, conferences, local events and other relevant information. This project aims to streamline these processes by developing a more effective data management system. The goal is to create a structured and user-friendly database that will allow ODLAN to easily access and review critical information, thereby improving operational efficiency and decision-making. Key tasks include: Assessing the current data management practices. Identifying gaps and inefficiencies in the existing system. Create a written data collection process Update data management framework. Implementing the updated system and train staff on its use.
Social Policy Researcher
The social policy researcher will join the ODLAN team to review, assess, and put together a report that provides an overview of Canada's Digital Charter and other relevant Canadian digital rights and inclusion policies. The student will provide a summary report on existing digital inclusion policies. The purpose of this role is to identify policy gaps and opportunities for developing digital inclusion policies.
Digital Inclusion Awareness Campaign Plan
The Ontario Digital Literacy and Access Network aims to remove digital literacy and access barriers. We build the capacity of Canadian organizations in Canada by providing the tools, resources, and knowledge to build digital inclusion strategies. We want to create an awareness campaign on why digital inclusion, safety, and access is important. ODLAN works with 2SLGBTQ+ communities. We would like to work with students to design a campaign that raises awareness and encourages changes in attitudes/behaviors. In collaboration with key contacts at our organization, students will design and carry out a campaign strategy around this topic. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with the social cause, our mission and goals. Identifying groups that the digital inclusion campaign will target. Identifying ideal outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs). Identifying potential sponsors and partners who can support our campaign. Creating a promotion and marketing plan. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Assisting in the development of leaflets, posters, videos, and / or brochures.
