Bio

Dr. Hawwa Shiuna holds a Ph.D. specializing in curriculum studies, teaching, and comparative education from the University of Cyprus. Additionally, she also has a Master's degree in educational leadership and management, a Bachelor of Arts with specializations in Sociology, Psychology, and English, and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on teaching Social Sciences and English. Commencing her career in 2009 at Villa College, a local institution in the Maldives, Dr. Hawwa Shiuna has fulfilled various roles, including course coordinator, curriculum developer, and senior lecturer. She has also contributed significantly to Islanders Education Pvt. Ltd., serving as the senior manager for their Department of Developments and Enterprises, and leading the team in the establishment of six preschools in the outer islands of the Maldives under the iqra school of projects. In her role as Principal at the Billabong High International School, she demonstrated exceptional leadership. She also spent over four years at the Maldives National University, where she held different positions such as Research Assistant, Research Associate, and Assistant Professor.

Her involvement in projects spans across domains such as the ERASMUS-funded project "Strategic Support for Accreditation of Programs and Internationalization at South Asian Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) SSAPI”, the UNDP-funded project on social grievances, social tension, and conflict in the Maldives, an assessment on the elimination of all forms of violence against women for People’s Parliament and a collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment on a project addressing youth crimes and delinquency in the Maldives.

Currently, Dr. Hawwa Shiuna serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University Canada West and Adlers University. She is a certified teacher in the Province of British Columbia and holds the Career Development Professional certification from BC. Additionally, she is a Personality Dimensions (Level 1) certified Trainer. Her academic accolades include being a gold medalist and securing the first rank in her Master's degree. She is also the recipient of the merit-based Ph.D. scholarship from the University of Cyprus. Dr. Hawwa Shiuna also received the prestigious President's Award (Maldives) in recognition of her exemplary academic achievement, completing the highest level of qualification with a doctoral thesis and publications. Dr. Hawwa Shiuna has also made significant contributions to academia with published papers, book chapters, and reports in the genres of management, education, and social sciences.

Your instructor will help you connect with the potential industry partner through Riipen platform. You will research and provide an analysis of a major workplace implementation, such as HR strategic plan, conducting job analysis and designing job descriptions, recruitment and selection strategy, performance management/ evaluation program, training and development program, formulating talent management strategy, compensation and benefits program, health and wellness plan. Evaluate the viability of such implementation by addressing the key issues required for success. In this, you will be expected to critically analyze Strategic Human Resource Management System/sub-systems as mentioned above, identify problems, and recommend constructive improvements. The success issues should be derived from current research.
