Solutions for Early Years Programs
ECL1
The 4th year degree student brings with them the theoretical and technical knowledge gained throughout previous semesters of the program. The ability to review, present, and critically evaluate quantitative and qualitative information to where appropriate, use this knowledge in the creative process The qualities and transferable skills necessary for further study, employment, community involvement, and other activities requiring: i.) the exercise of initiative, personal responsibility, and accountability in both personal and group contexts; ii.) working reflectively with others; iii.) decision-making in complex context The ability to communicate information, arguments and analysis accurately and reliably, orally and in writing. Students will support an innovative project for an early years or educational partner. This project is an opportunity for ECL students to gain expertise in a subject matter, and to collaborate with their mentors. This is an educational experience whereby the student contributes to the organization, however is in the role of learner. The student will be expected to spend 165 hours from September through December.
Solutions for Early Childhood Leadership
ECL1
Students will have opportunities to “give back” to the internship organization (or another community partner) by completing a solutions-based project. This project is an opportunity for ECL students to gain expertise in a subject matter, and to collaborate with their mentors. This is an educational experience whereby the student contributes to the organization, however is in the role of learner. The student will be expected to spend 165 hours on-site from September through December. The organization and student are to collaboratively determine a schedule to accommodate these hours.
Early Childhood Education and Care Leadership
The Student: Third Year Honours Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership degree student. The Internship: 420 mentored field hours (volunteer or paid) in an Early Years Program; childcare, related child & family service, or a relevant government agency. Typically from May-Aug (14 Weeks) Opportunities for students to: Pursue a placement expereince according to future careers in the Early Childhood Education/Care sector and/or future academic interests and goals. Students will apply strategies to support continuous learning & promote effective pedagogical practices in an EY setting Refine leadership competencies using the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards , and the Whole Leadership Framework (McCormick Centre). Work closely with an experienced EY professional.
