What is the main goal for this project?

Position available: 1

We are seeking an assistant to work closely with our Festival Production team. This position will report to Mimi Abrahams. Mimi is an established and sought-after professional who works as a venue manager, technical director, and producer on many large-scale events throughout the city of Vancouver. This candidate will work closely with Mimi to support the 11th Annual Indian Summer Festival, which is a virtual festival in summer of 2021.

Tasks may include:

  • Proofing and editing content for audience accessibility and engagement at digital events
  • Learning SRT file editing
  • Document formatting
  • Working with various softwares: Zoom, Otter, Rev Live Captions, and others
  • Liaising with Live Captions professional
  • Digital assets organization and progress checklist
  • Other tasks as needed

Ideal candidate:

  • Detail oriented
  • An attentive thinker with good organization skills.
  • Focused and willing to ask questions.
  • Quick learner for office and communication apps.
  • The office operates in English. Multilingual is an asset.
  • Must enjoy diversity, arts, and culture.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Candidate will work independently, remotely, on own computer.

Candidate will report to Production Manager Mimi Abrahams, with consultation and support from Laura June Albert, Grants & Community Initiatives Manager.

Both Managers will be available by email, zoom, google meet, and/or phone calls, according to the access needs and preferences of all parties.

Anticipated 1 meeting per week, and independent work outside of that.

Participant will have access to an @indiansummerfest email account and office wide Slack system, including a dedicated accessibility Slack channel.
