Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement

Welcome, business owners, to an unparalleled opportunity for collaboration with our exceptional students at Durham College’s Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement program. Our program delves deep into Lean Manufacturing, emphasizing tools and techniques crucial for analyzing work systems and driving productivity improvements while reducing waste. Students engage with concepts such as Kaizen, Pull systems, single-piece flow, Poka Yoke, SMED, 5S, Visual Control, Total Productive Maintenance, Right-sized Equipment, and Standardized Work.
Quality Management Systems

Join us at Durham College’s Fundamentals of Quality Management Systems program, where students blend theory with practice in quality management. Our institution prioritizes hands-on learning for students eager to explore operational excellence.Students can: Develop a strategic quality management plan. Operationalize the dimensions of quality into measurable characteristics.Conduct the analysis of the costs of quality by computing different costs and assigning them into categories of internal, external, preventative and appraisal.
Process Improvement: Optimizing your Business Processes

Student teams from Durham College’s - Process Improvement II course will work with your organization to analyze a challenge currently affecting your organization, and develop a solution that improves quality and/or processes for your organization.
Human Resources Student Placements - 4 Week Term
Field Placement is an integral part of the Durham College Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate program. During Field placement, students partner with an organization's human resources staff, completing a variety of objectives, and obtaining valuable insights into the workings of an HR department. Field placement provides students with the opportunity to put the theory they have learned in the program into practice and to develop their skills. Students are available for 160 hours of placement from approximately August 5th till August 30th, 2024.
