Learner goals and capabilities

The students are business students with introductory backgrounds, but are learning about barriers and success in working towards Indigenous economic development. They could easily help in projects with a business focus as they will have some background in human resources, marketing, organizational behaviour and Indigenous studies.

They can help in projects related to economic development and companies can expect they help move their projects forward, as we will have numerous teams working towards the same goal. This will allow companies some human resources to push their plans forward with fresh thinking and new ideas.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Students usually hand in a paper for this class, based on a First Nations band they have reviewed, and what could be added and how to economic development. They will have to write up what they have worked on and this will be their major assignment for the class. It can be expected this information will come to company we partner with.

Students in this class have worked on Indigenous First Nation band economic development, with idea generation and community development concepts. They will be adept in some of the obstacles faced by Indigenous bands, and economic development business processes to overcome them. They could handle any level of project in economic development and offer assistance to move the project ahead.
