Robotics - Mechanical Design for 3D printing and CNC
We want to leverage the latest 3D Mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology available to create mechanical designs that can be fabricated using 3D printing / CNC. We would like to collaborate with students to apply their mechanical design skills to create new and exciting designs for our products.We would like students to develop Mechanical CAD modelling skills and come up with some potential designs that can be used for the various robotics applications we are developing.This will involve:Work with 3D Mechanical CAD tools to modify pre-existing designs for the requirements.Placing internal components of various products inside the 3D models. Ensure 3D printing , DFM compatibility of the final models developed.
Market Analysis for Aero Applications
Our organization is interested in creating technologies that will shape tomorrow's world. We would like to invite students to help us tackle business and market identification problems in the technology market for aerospace service and products.This will involve several different steps for the students, including:Familiarizing themselves with our vision statement and a project we have defined.Create a framework that helps the company work on future applications better.Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project.Identifying key regulatory hurdles and business challenges during the market studyGenerate atleast 25 - 30 leads that can be approached immediately to apply our products.Bonus steps in the process would also include:Identifying new opportunities for other funding sources like VCs etc.
Antenna Design
Developing a prototype antenna system for a radio and electronics project.The student should be able to create the mechanical and electrical design. We will fabricate the antenna prototype after that.Antenna maybe in frequency range of 100 Megahertz and 1 Gigahertz. These will be relatively simple in design and anyone with prior experience or interest in this topic should apply for this opportunity.
Electronics and Radio Product Design
To expand our product offering we need to design a Software Defined Radio (SDR) prototype. These are electronics systems which are versatile and can be software configured for various radio applications.We are interested in developing this for applications that our clients have requested for.We would like to design the radio for upto 12 Gigahertz frequency.Key aspects of the internship may include : Radio Frequency designPrinted Circuit Board / Circuit designField Programmable Gate Array designOne of these will be selected basis the student's capabilities and interests.Designs for the fabrication of the board.
Workshop Event Planning
Our organization is committed to serving our target population. We are currently collaborating with overseas players and updating our workshop content keeping in mind the Canadian context.We would like to collaborate with students to plan a series of workshops to help meet our goals, starting in February on key STEM topics such as robotics and space systems.The workshops will be focused on post-secondary students.This will involve several different steps for the students, including:Familiarizing themselves with our mission, values and goals.Estimating and establishing the budget of the workshop.Creating a plan of action and a detailed breakdown of tasks for volunteers to complete at the event.Review the format and duration of the workshop and suggest any changesAssisting in marketing and promoting our event.Bonus steps in the process would also include:Recommending improvements for future workshops.

The main goal of the project is to develop drones with a versatility to be upgraded for higher weight class eventually.At the end of the project students would have analyzed market friendly drone designs, performed design trade-offs and prototyped the best 2 options adjudged with a panel of experts from the company.We intend to develop the product based on the prototype provided.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Robotics
We want to use our image dataset, based on our expected users and their applications, and leverage the latest image processing technologies to develop world class products. We would like to collaborate with students to apply the latest AI and machine learning techniques to our image datasets to gather new and exciting insights that our drone products can incorporate.This will involve:Conduct background research on our existing AI implementation, capabilities of the prototype and the create datasets.Conduct research into the latest AI, ML and computer vision techniques and how they could be applied to our data.Developing a ML / AI model which provides some sort of unique outcomes or insights into our data such as recommendation algorithms, predictive analytics, classifications, or other.
GNSS / GPS Navigation Algorithm development
To expand our product offerings, we need help in supporting an algorithm development project. We need support in the data handling and navigation part of the GNSS / GPS (Global Navigation Satellite System / Global Positioning System) development. This project requires the students to identify the position obtained from the GPS / GNSS data from the data obtained from the GPS receiver. Work mainly entails the understanding of navigation data.

Health and Safety evaluation due to transformers and power lines
We want to study overhead transformers, based on existing implementations, and understand the latest technology that can be used to further the understanding of transformers and their impacts to health and safety of nearby residents.We would like a group of students to first analyze the risks involved, develop the theoretical study and then come up with some potential test, measurements and strategic next steps to better this understanding. This will involve:Conduct background research on electromagnetic field interaction and human health Simulate radiation using available tools.Identify next steps, tests / certifications needed and possible platforms to strengthen this research.

The main goal of this project is to leverage the YOLO framework to create an effective real-time object recognition algorithm that is focused on detecting drone swarms.By the end of the project, students should submit a final report (along with any source materials such as code, etc) that demonstrates:- Understanding of the current YOLO algorithm- Methodologies and approaches to enhancing the YOLO algorithm to specifically detect drone swarms- Providing source code in a proper software development environment as applicable
