(VFC) FoundersBoost Vancouver - Accelerator Program Management + Marketing
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FoundersBoost (a partner of Techstars) is a mentor-driven pre-acceleration program that runs for 6 weeks and we take no fees or equity from startups. Our goal is to prepare early-stage startups in Vancouver/BC for accelerators, seed investors, and revenue by providing pitch coaching and mentorship during the program as well as connections to accelerators and VCs after the program We are running two cohorts each year: Spring Cohort - Application period between Jan - Mar, six Weekly sessions between Mar - Apr, Demo Day in May Fall Cohort - Application period between Jul - Sep, six Weekly sessions between Oct - Nov, Demo Day in Dec Between Jan - Mar and Jul - Sep, we will be focusing on promoting the accelerator program and recruiting startups/mentors, as well as hosting webinars and startup community events Between Mar - Apr and Oct - Nov, we will be focusing on running the weekly sessions and recruiting Investors for Demo Days HOW MANY STUDENT INTRAPRENEURS WILL THIS PROJECT ACCOMMODATE? 5 TIME COMMITMENT PER STUDENT : 70 hours KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES: Accelerator program management, startup event management Marketing and Promotion Research startups and supporting organizations IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:* Marketing + PR - Event promotion in our social media channels, other tech communities, and tech medias Sponsorship - Reach out to potential sponsors to secure sponsorship for our events (professional firms, tech companies, etc) Program Associate - Coordinate with startups, mentors, speakers, investors, and Headquarter Venture Analyst - Researching, sourcing, and recruiting startups to the accelerator program Event Management - Host and organize webinars and startup community events Partnership - Research and develop relationships with different related communities/organizations that support startups FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES: This varies depending on the roles and the time your project start/ends (in relative to what we are focusing on during that time as mentioned in the Project Description section above) PROJECT MENTOR NAME: Kenneth Ip - FoundersBoost Vancouver Director
Hermay Labs Corporation - Marketing + Business Strategy
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Hermay Labs Corporation is a high-tech chemistry laboratory in pursuit of creating innovative technologies and products to enhance various Canadian industries. One of Hermay Labs’ current initiatives is the extraction, purification and chemical modification of vitamin E from canola oil. Canola is one of the most widely grown crops in Canada and has a large production volume when compared to other grains as its oil is recognized to be the most popular cooking oil. To increase the application potential of the canola production industry, Hermay Labs will focus on using vitamin E recovery as a tool to expand the market, discovering new possibilities within the current oil production process. This initiative presents new molecular modifications to serve the scientific community and to increase nutritional benefits to the general populace. eOceans - Market Research
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: eOceans was founded with the belief that our ocean can be radically more exciting and valuable if we make faster, informed, inclusive, and collaborative decisions. Our mission is to gather one billion observations a day from ocean explorers and to generate one million personalized analytics per month for informed decisions at local and global scales -- whether you are headed to the beach to surf, deciding whether or not to close a multi-million dollar fishery, or building a network of protected areas, we've got you covered. eOceans just launched its MVP mobile app for data collection and display of results, and we now redesigning and building it to be more intuitive, collaborative, and educational. The goal of this project is to brainstorm, test, and build a marketing campaign that will 1) build up interest in the new launch and 2) maximize downloads and use in the first month after deployment. Students working on this project can expect to gain experience through research and analysis on the feasibility of this new service and hands-on marketing experience through the creation of marketing initiatives to begin the promotion of the new service with the information discovered.
