New Product Design: Prototype

Studentboard is creating a comprehensive platform to build, sell, and teach courses, and collaborate globally. The student(s) will research and develop a prototype, focusing on various products. We believe this project will require:Researching existing products and functions (simple, easy to use, minimizing clicks and pages). Developing a prototype of a recommended product design by completing UX and UI work.Figma will be the main prototyping tool used due to easy accessibility and collaboration ability. The final deliverables include:A prototype of the recommended design for a product. As the platform will have many moving parts, we will work with the student(s) in week one and two to identify a project outline based on contract length and time commitment. Potential products fall under five main modules including the following:Instructor and institution user profile: includes introduction page, course builder, enrolment management, and teaching toolsStudent profile: introduction profile (to add skills, education, interests etc.), and a place to enrol in and pay for courses, and learn. Landing page and Marketplace: Students search for courses, institutions, or instructors using basic search bar, filtering, and finding promoting courses.Peer to peer collaboration tool Four modules will be broken down into sub-tools that each student team will focus on based on student availability. Prototyping may occur on Figma or any other chosen software the student/team is interested in using. Studentboard Inc. will pay for appropriate tools required. Level up provides a $1400 stipend to each student: Studentboard seeks students interested in working 60-70 core hours (approximately $20-$23 per hour) with additional hours dedicated to mentorship and team networking. Work will occur on a part time basis and is flexible based on the student's schedule. One to two meetings (maximum of 2-4 hours total per week) will need to be attended for mentorship, team check-ins, and reporting on work progress (included within the 80 hours max). Slack and Zoom will be used to communicate, casual work attire, and students may be located anywhere in Canada (remote work)!

A slick automated system that fills our database with useful items!

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform has encountered a major gap in the accessibility of reports, studies, news items and research papers that are relevant to police education in Canada and around the world. Some of these materials are digitally archived in government websites. Others are available by manual searches on academic library search engines. Others are within newspaper archives and still others are current news items in the popular press. They are all from open sources.To further our educational outreach across Canada we need to gather these materials or the links to these materials and place them within a searchable database. We believe the project would sequence as follows:Define project phases by determining priorities and sequencing of the components of the work and by limiting the scope of each phase so that the team members can complete the work within the available hours funded by Level UP.Work to be concluded could be as follows:Determine how to automate the search and collection of relevant materials. Type of software? / Which types of materials are easily collected?Determine the type of database. It could be proprietary like Zotero.org. Or built by the student team.Determine the search methodology. We believe that each link or publication could have key words assigned either manually or automatically.Define the user interfaces for each phase of collection, indexing, search, retrieval.Develop the software solutions. These could use current open-source software or new coding by the team or a combination of the two.Implement and test the product.Teach us old guys how to use it effectively.

Data Analysis

We're a sports tech performance company and we'd like students to help analyze our datasets and pipeline to generate useful insights from the data we collect.From this analysis, we hope to visualize data collected from hardware to test reliability/validity by taking raw data to display in a real-world viewpointWe are working with temporal-spatial data that will be given to the students at various stages of our analysis and they will work with a top level data scientist/analyst (PhD) to:- Use various mathematical and statistical methods to transform data- Use tools/visualizations to view data.Student(s) must have the ability to code in python, MATLAB, and/or react.Please apply/contact for more information.

1000 Towns of Canada Website - Launch New Town Pages (WordPress)

Number of individual students required: 15 students, any Province or Territory, CanadaWe would like to lunch new small town pages on 1000towns.ca. We would like to work with students to develop these unique pages for us. Students should be prepared to:Launch 10 town pages in WordPress based on our template Build pages, with our assistance in providing digital contentTest launched pagesThe 1000 Towns team will provide training.
