Talent Management
HRMT622
With a combined focus on organizational behaviour and HR management, students in this course will learn how to interpret and leverage DiSC-based personality assessments for more effective team collaboration, better conflict management, strategic recruitment and selection, onboarding and more. Students will also be learning about organizational culture and how to ensure a company maintains and strengthens its core culture through growth and adversity. The course also includes change management, team dynamics and communication, attitude and mindset, values and emotions in the workplace, and how to embrace DEI to create an authentic work environment where every member of the team can feel valued and thrive regardless of their personality traits, behaviour style or communication style. In teams of 4/5/6, students will bring dynamic creativity, research skills and knowledge of global work environments to clients' projects. We're excited to work with companies open to innovative thinking.
Leadership in the Global Context
MGMT
Managing a cross-cultural organization is not a simple task. Different cultures make different assumptions when they have to make decisions. Companies must make sure that employees with different cultures work together at their best. Ignoring cross-cultural issues might cause severe damages to the organization. In this course, students will identify and examine current trends and issues as they pertain to hiring/retaining/motivating a team or key individuals in this context. Students in teams of five (each with a team lead) from University Canada West will develop an action plan that addresses a leadership or management challenge currently faced by your organization. Based on the information you provide, consultant teams will deliver an action plan that accounts for your unique circumstances and outlines a path to a more engaged and productive team.
