Virtual Internship Opportunity: Poetry
Wisdom House Books Wisdom House Books is seeking a summer intern who will assist the editorial and PR/marketing team on a newly formed poetry and art project, Nocturnus, at our independent press with the poetry and art submissions and promotional efforts of the division. This project will allow you to gain hands-on experience with editing and reviewing poetry and art submissions and will enable you to showcase creative and marketing skills in the literary and independent book publishing industry. We are looking for someone who can collaborate well with a team but who can also work independently. An ideal candidate would be someone who has an English/literature, art, or communications degree background or another related area of study, is well versed in social media, and has critical thinking skills. The project calls for the following responsibilities: ● Strengthening the social media presence of Nocturnus on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. ● Evaluating poetry and art submissions under the close guidance of the editorial and design team. ● General research into poetry presses. ● Creating form letters and other materials for promotional efforts. Virtual Internship Opportunity: Public Relations
Wisdom House Books is accepting applications for 1-3 students to join us this spring for a virtual internship opportunity. The Wisdom House Books PR and marketing intern will assist the senior and assistant publicist with promotional efforts of forthcoming and recently published titles. It will allow the intern to showcase his/her creative problem-solving skills in a professional environment and introduce him/her to the day-to-day responsibilities of a publishing company and PR/marketing firm. We are looking for someone who's comfortable communicating and collaborating, but who can also work independently without being micro-managed. Strong critical thinking skills are key, and they should be willing to apply their skills to a broad range of tasks. The primary focus for the student will be: Branding - Conduct a full competitive landscape assessment; define our organization's brand and core value proposition; identify opportunities and threats facing our brand; assess where and how to improve our brand's presence and differentiate from our competitors. Marketing Communications - Recommend changes to advertising and PR materials; create an integrated marketing campaign; create a rebranding campaign. Market Research - Investigate our competitive landscape; perform market segmentation to identify the ideal target market for forthcoming and recently published titles. Public Relations - Develop and implement a PR strategy; create collateral, including press releases, query letters, campaigns, and marketing plans. SEO Strategy & Recommendations - Develop and implement an SEO strategy; provide content suggestions and recommendations to increase search visibility; increase our inbound traffic, optimize the customer journey; increase inbound leads. Strategic Social Media Marketing - Conduct an audit of our/our author's current social media presence and/or other current communication channels(s); develop and implement strategies for improving our online presence and increasing engagement; create a content calendar; create social media and blog posts. This project will require the following responsibilities: Strengthening the social media presence of Wisdom House Books and its authors on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Goodreads, and Amazon. Planning and writing blog posts and publicity efforts for individual authors. Prioritizing and scheduling marketing tasks. Drafting press releases, pitches and incorporating feedback. Drafting query letters booksellers, press, media, and social media influencers. Utilizing PR software such as Cision for research. Our goal at the end of this experience is: Branding and Marketing Communications - For the student(s) to help us improve our author's presence and increase the sales of their book. Public Relations - For the student(s) to help us effectively communicate our author's narrative and mission to a niche audience. SEO Strategy & Recommendations - For the student(s) to help us generate more traffic and revenue through search engines for the author's social media and our own. Strategic Social Media Marketing - For the student(s) to help us improve our online presence, reach more clients, and effectively promote our publishing house through compelling content. We will plan to communicate with our virtual intern(s) using these communication tools: Email, Microsoft Teams, Phone, and Zoom.
