Intern ment to cultivating the next generation of business and design thinkers, Railyard Lab is a student innovation lab that gives design and business students and recent graduates an opportunity to gain meaningful experience through work with charities, not-for-profits, and social impact organizations! Over the past 9 years, Railyard has run 9 cohorts with an alumni network of 40 ‘Yardies’ working in some of the biggest tech organizations, leading design studios, start-ups, and social venture organizations across Canada. Graphic Design Intern Dossier and Railyard Lab are seeking a Graphic Design Intern to work alongside the January 2022 Railyard cohort in creating branded assets for client projects. Communication: We will communicate with our virtual intern through Slack and Zoom calls. Primary contact: Alison Cowling, Operations & Intern Manager Mentorship and supervision : Alison Cowling will be the main point of contact and meet with the student weekly or twice a week if needed, all via Zoom, and will be reachable via Slack and email at any point and will help steer the strategic direction of the project.
Creating Graphic Design Assets for Merchandise
We're looking for a student to help us with the creation of new graphic design assets for a line of merchandise. This will include: Creating a set of original designs for a line of merchandise Creating merch mockups based on the designs Sourcing suppliers to fulfill merch orders
Brazily Dance Apparel Design Project
The main goal of this project is to create designs to be placed on T-Shirts and other apparel aligned with our Brazily Dance brand. The designs should be creative and focus on the benefits of dance and help increase brand awareness.
Create graphic design assets for media and product packaging
Filz Candle Co. is preparing to bring to market a patent-pending, refillable candle jar. The main focus of this project will be creating different graphic design assets that will be used for media and product packaging. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Research : Exploring the world of candles, candle enthusiasts, and design trends to gain a deep understanding of our market. Creating a Media Kit : Compiling essential resources like product details, press releases, and marketing content to support our promotional efforts. Developing Social Media Assets : Crafting engaging visuals that will capture the attention of our online audience. Designing Packaging : Design packaging that represents our company's unique identity and appeals to our customers.

Graphic Design Intern
The main goal for the project is to design social assets for Toast: a membership-based collective that connects women to roles in tech. The assets will be used to promote the company's mission and connect with potential members and partners on social media channels. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Understand Toast's brand identity, mission, and target audience. Get to know Toast's brand voice, tone and sense of humour. We like the push the limits: both in our brand identity, and the quality of work we put out. Create designs for social media posts, banners, and other promotional materials using canvas, Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign. Collaborate with Toast's Marketing Lead and Founders to ensure the designs align with the company's messaging and goals. Incorporate feedback and make revisions to the designs as needed.
Visualizing La Fleur Digital's Services via Illustrations
The main goal for the project is to visually communicate La Fleur Digital's core services—Branding, Web Design, and Web Development—through engaging and coherent illustrations on its website. The visuals need to reflect the unique qualities and processes of each service and harmonize with the company’s overall branding and message.
Creating Showreel Videos for La Fleur Digital
The main goal of this project is to create four engaging showreel videos that effectively communicate La Fleur Digital’s capabilities and services. These videos will enhance the visual appeal of our website and landing pages, providing a dynamic and compelling introduction to our work.
