Sharon Bonner, VEMM is an award winning Event Producer, Event Strategy Consultant and Published Author who founded and has operated Bright Ideas Event Agency (BIEA) since 1988.
Sharon has always been a trailblazer. Sharon penned her first book called The Bright Ideas Adventure chronicling her 25 year journey of event excellence.
In February 2021, inspired by her pivot to virtual events, Sharon released her first digital E-Book called Donuts in the Lunchroom. In April of 2021, BizBash Canada listed Sharon as one of the TOP 250 Most Influential Event Professionals in Canada and in November 2021, BEIA received the Most Innovative Enterprise Award for innovating several projects during the pandemic.
March 2022 brought two ILEA Vancouver award nominations for BIEA, as well as a nomination for Sharon for Event Professional of the Year. In May 2022, the Canadian Special Events (CSE) awarded BIEA with Best Virtual Event and in June 2022, BIEA won an ILEA international Esprit award for Best Event Solution.
By October 2022, Sharon had launched her Event Consulting business www.sharonbonnerconsulting.com to assist clients in producing their own quality events.March 7, 2023 Sharon received A Woman to Watch Award spotlighting event leaders who are making an incredible impact on their community and the people around them.
Her career has been long and filled with dozens of industry awards, but her greatest accomplishment in her own words is โmaking a significant impact on an intern's life that will forever change their trajectory in the event industryโ. She plans to give back to the community that served her so well, long after she has retired from producing events.

Communications and Public Relations Coordinator - Level Up
The intern will work directly with the CEO and founder Sharon Bonner and her team to strategize and produce marketing assets to promote her new consulting business โ Sharon Bonner Consulting - https://sharonbonnerconsulting.com/ The intern will be responsible to create marketing assets or pursue public relations tasks to support then newly launched company. The Communication Coordinator will be involved in the strategy and execution process and help Sharon promote and publicize her new company and services. The intern will be working with Sharon and the team to develop content for all sorts of marketing; social media marketing, writing blogs, creating newsletters, and reaching out to industry publications to promote her consulting services. The main goals of this project is to market the new consulting business.
Marketing and Event Assistant - Level Up
The Marketing & Event Assistant will work directly with the CEO and Founder Sharon Bonner as the company pivots to coordinating virtual and hybrid events. The intern will work with Sharon to plan the virtual events and be directly supervised by Sharon. In addition, Sharon is starting her own consulting business and the intern will be working with her to develop the consulting website content, marketing strategy and business offering. The intern will asked to perform market research to define the target market for consulting clients. Sharon has also created a new business www.caringconnections.ca and will be looking for marketing support on how to promote her cards in 2022.
Junior Event Assistant
The Junior Event Assistant will work directly with the CEO and Founder Sharon Bonner as the company pivots to coordinating virtual events. The intern will work with Sharon to plan the virtual events and be directly supervised by Sharon. In addition, Sharon is starting her own consulting business and the intern will be working with her to develop this website and business offering. The intern will be working to develop a marketing strategy and plan. Event Marketing - SEO and Social Media Strategy - Level Up
Number of individual students required: 2 - 4 teams of 2 students Our team is looking for a social media marketing wizard who can help us drive more traffic and improve our SEO positioning. The primary project requirements include: Keyword analysis to determine relevant search terms to our organization A strategy document to outline: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) requirements to ensure our organization appears on the first page of Google for relevant keywords Social media requirements to increase the number of followers/likes and share Content Calendar Execution: Timely deployment of all our social media content to drive maximum traffic to our site Creating engaging content for prominent media websites Working with tools and programs such as Word Press, Active Campaign, Dubsado, Pepper, Hootsuite, Weโre excited to work with students who can help us not only brainstorm, but also execute a strategy to achieve: "Being the top-ranked result for the keywords ''Virtual Event Planner' 'Virtual Events' 'Event Consultant' This is a great project for students to prove their digital marketing expertise to future employers, as the impact of their work on this project can be easily measured and communicated.
