Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Write code for our product Battery Management System that is developed in-house.

The schematic design for the PCB has been successfully developed.

Code will fulfill various functions by the BMS for the required testing that would be undertaking in collaboration with St Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Learners would need to write lines of software code to enable various functions for the BMS. The code would be written for the chose microcontroller that would be placed on the PCB.

The basic code for the functions would include the following

  • Enable the functioning of the electric pump and electric fan based on the temperature and corresponding voltage
  • Enable disconnecting the battery cells to the circuit in case of thermal runaway.
  • Enable heating for the electric coil based on temperature.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Learners would be given access to all of Fetherstill's IP including designs and relevant data need to execute the tasks upon signing an NDA.

Learners would have complete flexibility in executing the tasks. Once a week or once in 2 week team meetings to show updates on the work.

Fetherstill will provide a final certificate on project completion and the company would be willing to provide reference to the learner for any future employment opportunities upon request.

About the company

We understand that the beating heart of an electric vehicle or any energy storage system is its battery pack. Our team is now undertaking the design and development our own battery module which will be aimed at bringing in the most desired cell chemistry, striking a sound balance between weight, energy density and power, all functioning smoothly with an efficient thermal management system, well suited into our unique design to fulfill the major requirements of efficiency and performance. This module can be scaled to be effectively used in an electric vehicle, along with energy storage applications functioning in any industry from residential/commercial use to passenger transport to construction to agriculture.
