What is the main goal for this project?

Background

Traxidy project management work tracking software has been available for about two years and is continually improving. Our goal is to be an easy-to-use, intuitive application for project managers to use to control project tasks, report status, and collaborate with teammates. The ability of Project Managers to plan and monitor project tasks and team member utilization, using a detailed Gantt chart will help to properly plan and control the project.

Work Requirements

Work directly with the Traxidy CEO and Founder to build an easy-to-use, stand-alone Gantt chart (that would ultimately be integrated into the Traxidy application at a later time) that will:

  1. Align the information used in the stand-alone Gantt with our existing application task/action data sets.
  2. Manage tasks/actions in a bi-directional manner
  3. Create a team member utilization assessment

See our Traxidy app at https://traxidy.com and a brief overview HERE. The following links show examples of concepts we like; DHX and Bryntum

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The main areas of work for the students in this project are:

  • Create a storyboard explaining the functionality
  • Create a UI/UX prototype, a project timeline, and a test plan

Develop a bi-directional and interactive and easy to use Gantt chart to:

  1. Work with existing data sets for actions/tasks, dates, and ownership from the app with suggestions for more if required
  2. Show actions/tasks and milestones dependencies with arrow-lines
  3. Be colorful and easy to use through drag & drop manipulation
  4. Allow inter-dependent movement of all tasks/actions based on dependencies
  5. Show and expand/collapse two levels of the tasks/actions; (Main) work group and (Sub-task) actions/tasks
  6. Show the utilization of project team members per project and indicate time-overload
  7. Show a project calendar of days off, holidays, etc.

  • Suggest a web-based screen/area that would fit within the Traxidy App where the Gantt chart is shown and edited
  • Consider changes and editing of the Gantt chart to be reflected back to the tasks/actions data set
  • Ensure the Gantt chart is responsive on all devices, but may only be a ‘view-only’ on smartphones
  • Develop reference documentation to enable users to use the Gantt chart
  • Use any open-source objects and code as you see fit

Above and Beyond Challenges

Other work that is outside the scope of this project but would be great to see completed or worked on within the timeframe of this project includes:

  • Working calendar option of 5 days/wk or 7 days/wk
  • A simple drag & drop Kanban board for the project actions/tasks
  • Develop the ability to show team member avatars
  • Develop the ability to show task/action progress lines and the project's critical path
How will you support learners in completing the project?

I am the Traxidy CEO and Founder and will make myself available to work directly with the

team of students and look forward to helping them succeed
