Social Service Worker Field Placement
Social Service Worker students are ready to virtually support individuals, families, and communities through delivering social service programming to clients. As “professionals in training”, our students are ready to help out in various ways, developing their skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are necessary to enter the field as a social service work practitioner. We are looking for placement sites where students can apply in practice the concepts and theories learned in the classroom. The students have learned in the classroom about many aspects of social service work, including interpersonal skills, counseling, group facilitation, and case management. Please note that all of our students will have their Vulnerable Sector Screening completed. The students are available for 200 hours of unpaid, for-credit work experience beginning in both September 2021 and January 2022.

Is your organization short on manpower for a given data analysis project? Are you a firm that is looking to explore the value of data analytics? Students in the Mohawk College analytics program are trained in data extraction and transformation as well as data preparation, data modeling and reporting on pre-existing data gathered by the organization. These students will work with your organization to analyze data sets and provide any recommendations they may have as a result of the analysis.

The Career Pathways program provides an opportunity for neurodiverse students to enhance both academic and professional skills in an empowering learning environment. Career Pathways students have brought their many strengths to over 40 other college programs and a variety of industries beyond graduation. The placement is a key part of the program where students build on their professional skills and receive valuable mentorship through real-world employment experience. In partnering with the Career Pathways program, the community partner benefits from working with students with a unique perspective who are reliable, supportive, and empathetic. It also provides the community partner with exposure to the benefits of neurodiversity in the workplace, reinforcing the importance of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Early Childhood Education Virtual Placement Winter 2025

Bring a group of students from the Early Childhood Education program at Mohawk College to be your virtual interns! Students are looking for opportunities to pursue their special interests and passion in a placement experience. In these varied settings, students will engage with children, families, staff, and other professionals. Students will be supported throughout their field placement experience by further enhancing their understanding of Pedagogy for the Early Years with a focus on the four foundations: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. Students are available for 20-26 hours (unpaid) of placement project time from Wednesday, February 5 to Friday, April 4, 2025 (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) in a virtual or in person (Hamilton or area) capacity. Students will not work during the Reading Week scheduled for Feb 17 to Feb 21.
