Details

Using a data set provided by your organization, student-consultants will use data analysis methods to help you and your organization derive insights and make more informed decisions. Based on the information you provide and the goals that you've shared with the students, they will provide you with an analysis and recommendations on issues of your choice.

Deliverables

Students will submit a 5-page report and dashboard in Excel or PowerB with data analysis and recommendations. There is also an additional option to have the teams make a presentation.

Project Examples

Working in small groups, Cambrian College students will tackle a question designed by you to guide their exploration of the data provided. Among other things, the students will organize and consolidate the data in multiple worksheets, perform visual analysis, apply logical operators and formulas, create dashboards and data summaries.

As a partnering organization, you will provide the students with a central question that you face, and the students will create meaningful spreadsheets to analyze, manage and communicate data, as well as provide recommendations.

Project objectives include, but are not limited to: analyzing data, constructing dashboards in PowerBI or Excel, and providing an analysis of data based on provided criteria.

Possible project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing historical buyer data to identify key target markets or new business development opportunities.
  • Analyzing available industry data to identify market trends
  • Identifying trends and patterns in your sales cycle
  • Identifying trends in demand to help with forecasting
  • Analyzing data on customer satisfaction to highlight key areas for improvement
