Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Bring entry-level user experience design and digital marketing support to your organization.

Participants will begin this 5-week project-based experience after completing an 8-week upskilling part-time course in UX & Digital Marketing Fundamentals. Participants will have the foundational skills in user experience design and digital marketing, ready to apply design thinking and user personas to guide building digital products using in-demand tools such as Figma, Miro, Notion and Glide.

Participants will attend a virtual orientation with AHF and Riipen on November 2nd, 2022 at 6-7:00pm ET and will work on projects between Nov 14th - Dec 16th, 2022.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Project deliverables will depend on the scope of the project and are based on a 5 week timeframe at 20 hours (total) per individual working in small teams. See examples of deliverables below.

Some final project deliverables might include:

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendation
  3. Wireframes and visual assets
  4. A working prototype in Figma with some high fidelity mockups of a landing page, a section of the website or an app
Project Examples

Participants can work on a project based on your organization's goals within a 5-week scope and 20-hours per individual, working in small teams.

​​Project tasks that participants can complete include, but are not limited to:

1. Market Research/Competitive Analysis

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information about consumers
  • Participants conduct competitive research in your industry
  • Participants to prepare a slide deck with research gathered, along with examples of user personas

2. User Experience Audit & Recommendations

  • Audit and provide recommendations for a particular area of an app/website to improve the user experience
  • Recommendations to include wireframes, visual assets, and visual design specs in Figma when necessary

3. Landing Page

  • Participants design a landing page (web/mobile) for the organization, using content provided by the organization
  • Landing page to be designed using Figma would include screens for mobile and web when necessary

4. Low-fidelity Wireframes and Prototype

  • Participants will analyze user research provided to create low fidelity wireframes and map out a user flow
  • Solutions to include low fidelity wireframes with a working prototype in Figma, some high fidelity example mockups provided

5. Usability Testing & Recommendations

  • Participants will provide support for usability testing sessions, and collecting and synthesizing findings from sessions
  • Participants to prepare a slide deck summarizing findings and providing recommendations

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Headquartered, operates from, and/or offers services in Canada.

Be a small or medium sized organization, social enterprise, sole proprietorship, start-up, or non-profit.

Please provide a list of software and tools that you expect the participant team to use for your project.

Committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within your organization.

Organization must sign an agreement to be provided by AHF.

Provide a dedicated point of contact to: 1) attend project orientation meetings, 2) attend a pre-selection meeting with Accelerate Her Future via Zoom to assess project scope and fit, and 3) meet with participant teams to provide mentorship and feedback on deliverables.

Attend Accelerate Her Future’s project kick-off orientation meeting the week of Oct 31st with participant teams.
