A full class of healthcare management students will tackle a project relating to a healthcare leadership or a management challenge on behalf of your organization. They will create new policies, update existing policies, or design a new program based on your goals.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. They will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome - Report and Presentation: Students will submit a detailed report on the outcomes of the project and recommendations. This may include an updated policy document, the outline for a new program, or other deliverables as agreed upon.

Project Examples

Based on your unique needs and interests the project scope and deliverables will be customized to maximize your value and benefits.

Project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing a customized corporate wellness program for employees that takes into account organizational goals and the best practices of the nursing profession.
  • Developing a strategy for a health care provider to attract and retain young nurses. This hiring and employee retention program would provide targeted insight from your target applicants.
  • Creating a policy for a health care provider that helps manage stress and strain in employees and improve overall wellness.
  • Creating a SWOT analysis for an organization
  • Using a Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) quality improvement approach to address an organization area of performance
  • Conducting a formal assessment of an organizational capacity to address medical, behavioral, psychiatric and substance use problems
  • Complete a business case pro forma for an organization or product
  • Analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • Develop health education for communities or schools.
  • Develop an Emergency Response Plan
  • Analysis and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Program planning and implementation strategies.

Students are expected to provide the company with a final report and presentation as part of the project deliverables in a format that is agreeable to the company. Feedback from company of students performance and deliverable standards are important for overall assessment of completion of the project.
