The project is to edit a novel called Where The Light Lives is about a young woman named Scarlet Graham who is from Prince Edward Island. She has just finished her teaching program and is going to Alberta to start her first job. She falls in love with the principal Eli Stone of the school she is teaching at. The novel is a the start of a multi-generational series of love, loss, and self-discovery in Kananaskis Country Alberta. This project will involve several different steps for the students, including: Adding additional elements to the novel to help flesh out the story and characters. Editing the novel to ensure it is cohesive and well-written. Checking for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Reading and understanding the novel. The goal of this project is to research and create a geographically focused report on the various historical, present and potential future developments of agricultural, textile, herb practices in Canada. This includes aquaponics, hydroponics, permaculture, food forestry, regenerative and other ecologically sustainable farming practices. The project will also locate 13 suitable ecological zones in each Canadian province and territory where the various types of agricultural practices can thrive. The project will explain the rational for each location and the timeframe required to make them viable food supplies for a 250 kilometer radius around the agricultural zone.

Additionally, students will determine the necessary staff required to successfully host the 3-day event, including the calculation of the average cost of hiring staff at industry-competitive rates.

The goal of this project is to hire a team of students to write a report analyzing the major supply chains in Canada. The focus should be on the connection points between small crop farms, lumber, minerals, gems, oil, small batch manufacturers, craftsmen, and skills-based services, local distributors and sellers. Additionally, the team should look at small companies that control the whole process from start to finish, such as Stormy Acres, a hops farm that also makes and sells its own soap at markets and fairs.
