Video Production
Positions available: 1 Our organization needs some video production and editing help! We are looking for someone with video production experience who can help with original content creation for the purposes of promotion and exemplifying our youth programs, as well as post-production on films created by other participants in our programs. This would include collaboration with in-house project managers and post-production managers, and making the best short films possible with the available materials and time limitations. We hope to work with one intern, for 10-15 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.
Reel Youth Social Media
Position: One individual student Throughout the year, we recognize events and holidays that are relevant to our extended online community, including Indigenous youth and Elders, queer youth and adults, new Canadians, Black youth, and young people facing economic and social barriers. We are looking for an individual to create graphics, populate our Reel Youth social media calendar, and schedule posts them on our online platforms. We hope you can: research and present options for a social media calendar platform populate it with relevant annual dates that relate to the work we do provide insight into youth and Northern perspectives on annual events create draft social media graphics using Canva for twitter, instagram, and facebook We hope you have: Research and graphic design skills Expertise with social media platforms A self-starting attitude and ability to communicate clearly A social justice orientation 10-15 hours per week for a total of 80 hours

Every year, we collect short films from youth filmmakers around the world, and create a festival collection that highlights diverse voices, unique stories, and the best work from emerging filmmakers. This position would involve filtering submissions to ensure that they meet our criteria, watching films, and rating them based on our selection guidelines. This is a remote position and would require access to a computer and internet. This project will require: A critical eye for qualities that make a strong film (not just production value) An understanding of our festival and the types of films we want to highlight Self-discipline and time management skills Use of your home computer and internet to access FilmFreeway We will give you access to FilmFreeway, as well as personnel, training, and supervision. We hope to work with two project interns, for 10-20 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.
Non-profit onboarding process
We are a small team and want to be able to effectively and efficiently welcome new staff after the hiring process. We want new staff to be set up to hit the ground running, and feel like they have a grasp of the scope of our work and workplace processes. As such, we hope that an improved onboarding process will uphold our organization's values and culture and increase retention. Students should be prepared to: Research our existing onboarding practices to determine their effectiveness and opportunities for improvement. Research other non-profit onboarding practices. Research what onboarding components are most impactful for new employees. Starting with our existing materials, develop a standardized onboarding plan and package that achieves our goals, using content supplied by us.

We are looking for someone with videography and editing experience to plan, film, and edit this series of long videos. This is a remote internship that would include collaboration by phone, Zoom, and email with in-house staff and managers to ensure high-quality final films within a limited budget and time limitations. We believe this project will require: Video and post-production equipment Post-production experience with Adobe Premiere Pro Access to landscapes and vistas that would be vehicle and willingness to travel within coastal BC Strong work ethic, communication skills, and independence We will give you access to organizational assets such as the Adobe Suite to support this project, as well as mentorship. We hope to work with two project interns, for 10-20 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.

We are looking for someone with video editing experience who can help with both adding the finishing touches on student projects, as well as creating promotional and client content from existing materials. This would include collaboration with in-house video editors and post-production managers, and making the best film possible with the available materials and time limitations. We believe this project will require: Understanding our post-production workflow and the requirements of individual projects Understanding our video style, in terms of youth-made/program projects, promotional videos, and professional products Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects Skill and consistency in using our file management protocol Strong teamwork and communication We will give you access to organizational assets such as the Adobe Suite to support this project, as well as personnel, and branding materials. We hope to work with one project intern, for 10-15 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.

Positions available: Two individual students A big part of how Reel Youth stays connected to the communities we work with is through social media, and we could use your help! Throughout the year, we like to recognize events, holidays, and notable days that are relevant to our extended online community, including Indigenous youth and Elders, queer youth and adults, new Canadians, Black youth, and young people facing economic and social barriers. We are looking for individuals that can help us set up and populate an online platform for scheduling social media posts. In order to set up and populate an online Reel Youth social media calendar, we are hoping you can: research and present options for a social media calendar platform populate it with relevant annual dates that relate to the work we do (arts, youth wellness, and social justice) consult with our social media team to provide insight a youth and Northern perspective on annual events schedule content: create draft social media graphics and posts for twitter, instagram, and facebook for 2022 work with our social media team to help develop a Tik Tok strategy We believe this project will require: Research skills Graphic design skills Experience and expertise with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) A self starting attitude, and the ability to communicate clearly and work independently with direction A social justice orientation We will give you access to organizational assets such as the Adobe Suite to support this project, as well as personnel, sales and brand collateral. We hope to work with two project interns, for 10-15 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.
