Phase 3 Development of web search and database product

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform requires indexed accessibility of reports, studies, news items and research papers that are relevant to police education in Canada and around the world. To further our educational outreach across Canada we need to gather these materials or the links to these materials and place them within a searchable database. Phase 1 developed a search methodology and result retrieval via Google Scholar. Work to be concluded: Complete development of User Interface Complete development of secure log-in feature Complete integration to the Zotero database Test and revise Implement and test the product, debug. Teach us old guys how to use it effectively using a You Tube video or videos uploaded after a final live presentation.

Activate Communications Consultant Recommendations

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform is a registered charity seeking to educate more and more Canadians about the need for police to learn different skills and knowledge during their training. Recently Cloggers Consulting from the MacEwan University Business Consulting class provided a report with recommendations. We attach that report below. The report recommended the following: Install Social Media Apps Test SMMP application and subscribe to the best for our purpose. (Buffer or MeetEdgar or SocialPilot or Loomly) Modernize website Reach out to news and radio stations in the Edmonton area Another recommendation was the hiring of a social media manager. As an alternative, C-CPR wishes to offer this Level-Up project to 2 MacEwan students. The successful applicants will be expected to move the consultant's recommendations forward and in doing so maintain a liasion with other Level-Up providers completing projects for C-CPR. Thank you.

Google Ad Words is activated but needs refinement.

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform is a registered charity seeking to educate more and more Canadians about the need for police to learn different skills and knowledge during their training. We are approved for Google Ad Words for a monthly spend of $10,000. Google Ad Words programs are very difficult for me at least. There are many rules and requirements. The student team could analyze results to date and advise improvements according to their analysis.

Website tweaking

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform is a registered charity seeking to educate more and more Canadians about the need for police to learn different skills and knowledge during their training. We have a rudimentary website hosted by Wild Apricot. The site needs some optimization: search engine work as well as tidying up the appearance.

Website (completion) / Social Media creation & posting / Administrative tasks

Currently we use Wild Apricot software to provide a website and membership management. It is functional but limited. Recently we realized that optimizing our website on their platform for the necessary loading speed and content that meets Google's requirements for AdWords for Non Profits is hard to achieve because we are novices at html coding. The goals of the project are to: Conduct a needs analysis to determine if the Wild Apricot platform is suitable. This analysis should determine if the web-engine available is adequate to achieve the results needed and if the membership and contact management modules similarly are adequate to meet our needs.

Social Media Marketing (part Two)

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform is a new non-profit. We are busy building the backbone of our organization. Projects planned for now that will be completed before this project commences will provide the building blocks for a social media campaign designed to educate, inform and recruit members. In particular the campaign will market our conference called First Annual Conference on Canadian Police Reform for June 15,16 2022. We are looking for 2 Level UP students who will continue the campaign completed by previous Level Up students on all of our Social Media accounts. Currently we are very active on LinkedIn but we need our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to provide intregrated messaging. We have applied for Google AdWords for Non-Profits and hope to qualify by the time this project commences. The project will consist of: Review Communications work completed prior to this project. Adopt or adapt the previously completed materials to meet your style and create appropriate templates for posting to each social media channel. Develop a work plan for the two month period of your engagement Get to work marketing the Coalition for Canadian Police Reform on all channels. Monitor success of your campaign and report metrics back to the executive. Adapt the campaign to meet or exceed targets for engagements that we will establish in partnership with you. At conclusion deliver a report (written and aural) to the Operations Committee that advises next steps and will orient the next Level UP team.

OPTIMIZE AND DEVELOP OUR CURRENT WILD APRICOT SOFTWARE (or advise us to change)

Perform Search Engine Optimization Optimize the membership application, member profiles, membership approval and membership communication Design the visual look of member communication based on the new visual look you have developed for the website In addition to the work on the Wild Apricot site implement a solution for an accessible catalog of existing academic papers, newspaper articles and other media that would be available behind a paywall to our members. Provide training on updating and maintaining all of our digitral assets.

Implement Quickbooks for Non Profits in the cloud.

We have acquired QuickBooks for Non-Profits (web-based). We need to establish our accounts with revenue and expense criteria that meet Canada Revenue Agency requirements for non-profits/charities. This version of QuickBooks includes the appropriate categories. We would also like to establish expense tracking via a SmartPhone App. The project could include selecting the App and setting up the tracking. To complete the project we would like a tutorial from the student so that three board members are competent with using QuickBooks.

A slick automated system that fills our database with useful items!

The Coalition for Canadian Police Reform has encountered a major gap in the accessibility of reports, studies, news items and research papers that are relevant to police education in Canada and around the world. Some of these materials are digitally archived in government websites. Others are available by manual searches on academic library search engines. Others are within newspaper archives and still others are current news items in the popular press. They are all from open sources. To further our educational outreach across Canada we need to gather these materials or the links to these materials and place them within a searchable database. We believe the project would sequence as follows: Define project phases by determining priorities and sequencing of the components of the work and by limiting the scope of each phase so that the team members can complete the work within the available hours funded by Level UP. Work to be concluded could be as follows: Determine how to automate the search and collection of relevant materials. Type of software? / Which types of materials are easily collected? Determine the type of database. It could be proprietary like Zotero.org. Or built by the student team. Determine the search methodology. We believe that each link or publication could have key words assigned either manually or automatically. Define the user interfaces for each phase of collection, indexing, search, retrieval. Develop the software solutions. These could use current open-source software or new coding by the team or a combination of the two. Implement and test the product. Teach us old guys how to use it effectively.
