Bridging Cultural Gaps in Mental Health: Enhancing Family Well-Being

This project aims to explore how cultural norms and stigmas influence mental health access within different communities and how families can embrace mental well-being practices. The goal is to create resources that help families better understand mental health, break down cultural stigmas, and improve communication around these challenges. Learners will gather and organize information to develop tangible resources, such as directories, handbooks, and presentations, that promote culturally sensitive approaches to mental health support. The project will emphasize effective team communication, research, and presentation skills, preparing learners for real-world collaboration.

Financial Business Plan

We are looking to officially launch Valid Dreams Foundation and would like to involve students in this exciting time as we work to develop a financial business plan. We can provide access to internal documentation and other information as needed as well as access to key contacts. Based on our unique goals and constraints, we would like students to develop a strong, competitive financial business plan, which we can present to investors and potential sponsors. We would also like student involvement in researching ways we can increase revenue as an organization to reach our financial goals. The plan should include: Sales forecasting Expense budget Income projections (conservative and aggressive) Assets and liabilities Break-even analysis Pay periods for employees and future positions

Grant Writing, Business Development

Our organization is interested in addressing societal issues, newcomer support and supporting social justice causes. However, we are currently facing funding challenges. We would like to collaborate with students to find and complete grant applications. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarize themselves with our vision statement and a project we have defined. Develop a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding. Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project. Improving the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Identifying new opportunities for community projects.

Project feedback
Valid Dreams Foundation and their crew have been very understanding and is very helpful in regards to being informative about what they look forward to with finding new ideas to implement within their company. It is amazing that they gave my group members and I the chance to be apart of their journey to discuss our Project Management plan and what they needed to expand. However, the only thing I feel that would need improvement on is preferably being able to contact your company via email due to the different time zones and availability. Otherwise, everything that my group members and I experienced, it was great!

Project feedback
I had the pleasure of working with Valid Dreams Foundation on the project "Financial Business Plan." My program's collaboration focused on defining strategic compensation management policies. Throughout the project, the team at Valid Dreams Foundation was incredibly helpful and supportive. We greatly appreciate the unique opportunity to develop volunteer-based compensation policies, which was both challenging and rewarding. Their guidance and collaboration were instrumental in the success of this project. Overall, the experience was highly positive, and I am grateful for the chance to work with such a dedicated and innovative organization. I look forward to working together on potential future projects.

Project feedback
Valid Dreams Foundation is a new, evolving non-profit tackling social justice issues in British Columbia. Sally, the Executive Director, is open to feedback and input. Students have full creative license to create content, which is exciting, but requires the student to regularly scale expectations. Weekly meetings are necessary as priorities shift fluidly in the non-profit sector: due to new opportunities occurring with short timelines.
