**PLEASE READ** Project Eligibility & Requirements: To be eligible for this project Students must have previous experience in writing research papers on accurate sourced information. Students must be able to accurately document information found through research and prepare research reports. Students should preferably have an interest in learning and researching uplifting, pre-colonial black history topics and information.

Students must be available for the 2 month period consecutively, for the duration of the project and be able to attend all weekly project meetings. Students must also be able to commit at least 8-10 hours per week for the duration of the project.

PROJECT SCHEDULE: Students are required to attend One 40 min mandatory weekly meeting. Meeting hours are between 3:30pm-6:30pm EST/1:30pm-4:30pm MT/12:30pm-3:30pm PDT. Students must be able to commit at least 10 hours per week for project work.

Deliverables

SCOPE:

Students will support our organization's development of educational content, to help build learning courses and modules centered around black history. A sample completed research document will be given to students to use as a guide, for creating their weekly research docs. All Students tasks will include the following:

  • To research, curate and write learning content, developing reservoirs of data for program use.
  • Conduct research and data analysis.
  • Researching educational data and information about specific topics related to indigenous, pre-colonial Black history.
  • To curate educational knowledge and information about Black History.
  • Site all information, pictures, videos used to create research documents in APA format.
  • Ensuring content matches established objectives and Reshaping content for changing needs.
  • Managing timelines and ensuring completion of work by project weekly deadlines.
  • Complete at least 8 research documents by the end of the internship.
Mentorship

MENTORSHIP AND SUPERVISION

Students will be mentored and supervised during their internship through Zoom and other online work sharing platforms, specifically during working hours. Students will be guided and mentored by our senior project manager. They will have access to our Senior project manager any time needed, during business hours by phone/email and after business hours through email. Students will be given access to any needed tools and software to help them complete their work and earn valuable skills.

The Building Black Youth Foundation (B.B.Y.F.), is a not for profit children's organization and social enterprise, geared to providing children cultural based learning opportunities and educational support for Black/BIPOC(but not limited to) children/youth and families across Canada.
