MacEwan University will be back in action in a big way this September! There will be a campus-wide, term-long safe(r) sex campaign and we need your help!
The over-arching goals of the campaign are:
- Establish consent culture as a feature of campus culture
- Connect students to campus supports
- Raise the profile of the MacEwan University Health Centre and associated services
- Quality, inclusive, educational opportunities and sexual health myth-busting
- Joy and celebration of the galaxies of sex and pleasure
We want students to help us create online and visual content that is highly engaging and supports the goals of our campaign. This campaign is collaborative and campus-wide and will include coordinated social media messaging that aligns with the goals of the overall program. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are and provide support as needed.
To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will:
- Create a series of well-researched and engaging infographics to support monthly themes
- Establish a social media strategy and schedule to be followed by collaborating bodies
- Design digital assets to be used on social media (posts, stories, videos, etc)
- Produce a slate of marketing and communication tools for campus events (posters, handbills, flyers, etc)
Students will work closely with the campaign planning committee, and will be supervised by the coordinator of the Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity. The supervisor will be available for questions and support throughout the process. The student can expect to meet on a weekly basis to track progress and make adjustments to the project as needed. The planning committee and supervisor will provide timely and constructive feedback throughout the process, and supply additional resources as needed.
About the company
The Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity supports research, teaching and service work related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression on campus and in the community. Supported by the Canada Research Chair in Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Issues, we develop inclusive and responsive policies, support evidence-informed practices and encourage the full and equitable participation of sexual and gender minorities on campus and in society.
We serve all members of the MacEwan community—students, faculty and staff. We can answer your questions about sexual and gender minority issues and support your ideas for initiatives that increase knowledge about and bring visibility to the LGBTQ2S+ community.
