Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Based in Hurstpierpoint, near Brighton, IMA International delivers training, international development consultancy, coaching and mentoring to build capacity in international development programmes globally. Established in 1983, our 40 years’ experience in international development is with teams working in the public and private sector, UN Agencies, academia, and International NGOs.

Due to the high emphasis on localisation and building capacity in local partners internationally in the development and humanitarian sectors, IMA is trying to reach local NGOs with trainings. However, local NGO practices and opportunities for capacity building is limited (compared to INGOs, UN Agencies).

This consultancy aims to advise IMA on potential routes for supporting local NGOs through partnerships with foundations, philanthropic organisations and organisations` grants supporting local partners.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The key in identifying these organisations, networks and individuals will require a very good understanding of IMA’s mission, values and services. IMA International will provide guidance documents on its services, mission and values as well as on the latest findings in this research project that can guide the student consultants’ work.

Deliverables:

1. Provide a brief workplan of the team agreed with the key contact from IMA (Gantt chart or another format after the kick-off meeting)

2. Provide a presentation and report with:

A) suggestions on foundations, philanthropists, companies with CSRs; their geographic locations and any relevant fundraising events or networks these are part of;

B) highlight their interest areas for partnership, or philanthropic contribution;

C) and a comparative analysis on which potential funders IMA have a good alignment in values to reach out for partnerships in the future.
