We collaborate with immigrant settlement agencies, mental and physical health professionals, social service agencies, neighborhood houses and the broader community to ensure that the needs of survivors of torture are recognized and met at all levels. Through our community partnerships, our goal is to support survivors overcome the legacy of oppression and live with dignity. Link: About | Victoria Coalition to Stop Torture
Internship deliverables:
- Support the Executive Coordinator of VCST.
- Meeting notetaking: We are currently meeting with organizations in British Columbia to establish a circle of support for survivors of torture. We are working on filling service delivery gaps. You will help me with notetaking. The meetings are already recorded.
- Help the executive coordinator with the presentation PowerPoint.
VCST is looking for 3 Level Up student. 80 hours commitment per student.
The VCST internship program will end depending on intern schedule.
- Interns will meet with VCST Executive Coordinator once a week and/or biweekly for supervision and mentorship.
- Supervisor will be accessible for students.
- Students will receive networking and professional development opportunities.
Students will receive an honorarium by Ripen by end of placement.
