research reports research methodologies criminal justice reform mental health trauma care researchThe main goal of this project is to provide a student with an opportunity to lead a critical study on the experiences of Black offenders, their trauma within the justice system, and their reintegration into society. This will involve several different steps for the student, including:
- Design and implement research methodologies to explore the trauma experienced by Black offenders within the justice system.
- Analyze data on the reintegration challenges faced by these individuals, including barriers to employment, housing, and mental health support.
- Review existing literature and data to contextualize findings and identify gaps in current knowledge.
- Ensure research is informed by real-world experiences and needs.
- Stay updated on current trends and developments in criminal justice reform and racial equity.
Student will need to:
- Produce a detailed research report to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Complete any required revisions based on feedback and responses.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.

About the company
Keep6ix is a not-for-profit Toronto-based organization, serving the Greater Toronto Area, that was founded in 2017 to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk youth from racialized communities who have been impacted by the criminal justice system.
Keep6ix offers various programs and services to help youth avoid going down a disempowering path toward incarceration. We also support and advocate for those who are currently incarcerated and provide post-release support so that they can overcome systematic barriers and stigma and begin to reintegrate positively into the community.
