Details

The primary objective of this project is to devise innovative strategies that significantly boost public participation in recycling initiatives, particularly focusing on soft plastics and other recyclables. Students will explore and analyze the current market trends in recycling, identify the challenges and gaps in existing practices, and propose effective social media campaigns aimed at educating, engaging, and motivating the community to participate more actively in recycling efforts.

By the end of the project, students are expected to deliver a comprehensive market analysis report that outlines potential opportunities for increasing recycling rates through targeted social media campaigns. Additionally, they should present actionable and creative SNS campaign proposals that not only raise awareness about the importance of recycling but also leverage gamification, incentives, and community engagement to drive tangible increases in recycling participation. The ultimate goal is to create a positive environmental impact by making recycling more accessible, engaging, and rewarding for the wider community, aligning with the overarching mission of promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Deliverables

1. Market Research:

  - Conduct focused research on current recycling trends, particularly regarding digital engagement and community participation.

2. Target Audience Identification:

  - Identify key demographics for the campaign, considering factors like age, location, and digital platform preferences.

3. SNS Platform Selection:

  - Choose one or two primary social networking platforms based on where the target audience is most active.

4. Content Strategy Development:

  - Create a simplified content strategy that includes a mix of educational, engaging, and call-to-action posts tailored to the selected platforms.

5. Campaign Concept Creation:

  - Develop a basic concept for the SNS campaign that incorporates elements of gamification or incentives to boost participation.

6. Prototype and Feedback:

  - Design a prototype or draft version of the campaign for one of the chosen platforms and gather feedback from a small group of peers or potential users.

7. Final Proposal Preparation:

  - Based on feedback, refine the campaign concept and prepare a final proposal that includes the campaign objectives, key messages, and a simple content calendar.

8. Report and Presentation:

  - Compile the findings, campaign proposal, and expected outcomes into a concise report and prepare a presentation to showcase the work done.

Mentorship

To ensure students receive the necessary support and mentorship to successfully complete the project, the following resources and assistance will be provided:

1. Mentorship:

  - Assign a dedicated staff member or mentor with expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and recycling initiatives to guide the students throughout the project. This mentor will be available for regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and to answer any questions students might have.

2. Access to Tools and Software:

  - Provide licenses or access to essential software tools needed for the project, such as graphic design software (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva), and analytics tools (Google Analytics, platform-specific insights tools).

3. Online Collaboration Platform:

  - Provide access to an online collaboration platform (such as Slack or Trello) to facilitate communication among team members, share resources, and track project progress.

4. Feedback and Iteration Support:

  - Set up regular feedback loops where students can present their work-in-progress and receive constructive feedback from mentors and peers, allowing for continuous improvement of their project deliverables.

ILS Canada leads in promoting environmental progress through the efficient collection of recyclables that were previously considered non-recyclable and disposed of as waste. It accomplishes this by organizing educational events that encourage communities and participants to actively contribute to the recycling circular economy, driving innovation in the sorting of recyclable materials.
