The goal of this project is to develop ocean conservation education program curricula for youth, focusing on Orcas in the Salish Sea. Sea Smart, a Vancouver-based charity, aims to inspire and empower kids to love and protect the ocean. This project will involve several different steps for the students, including:


- Researching ocean conservation topics and developing lesson plans.


- Developing activities and resources to engage youth in ocean conservation topics.


- Creating online resources and materials to supplement the curricula.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:


- Research and lesson plans on ocean conservation topics, specifically Orcas in the Salish Sea.


- Development of engaging activities and resources for youth to learn about ocean conservation.


- Creation of online resources and materials to supplement the curricula.


Final deliverables should include:


- Completed lesson plans and research materials.


- Engaging activities and resources for youth.


- Online resources and materials to supplement the curricula.

Mentorship

You will be matched with our Program Coordinator who is highly experienced in developing and delivering environmental education programs for youth. The PC will provide weekly guidance and supervision on the project as well as a document detailing the needs of our program.
