Details

Zephlinear Ltd’s FOYSE® Technology introduces a new class of noninterlaced textiles. While the underlying material science is innovative, it remains challenging to communicate visually to audiences unfamiliar with textile engineering. This project invites design students to create a clear, engaging visual communication system to represent the structure, process, and potential applications of FOYSE. The outcome will help designers, students, and innovation hubs understand how FOYSE works—without needing technical or engineering expertise.

Deliverables
  • Review existing visual and video materials provided by Zephlinear Ltd (e.g., YouTube demos and the current TioFT website)
  • Research and analyze examples of visual storytelling in textile, fashion, or science-based communication
  • Develop 1–2 design concepts for visually explaining the FOYSE system (e.g., through infographics, animations, illustrations, or interactive wireframes)
  • Propose a cohesive visual style that aligns with Zephlinear’s branding
  • Create sample assets (e.g., process diagram, use-case illustrations, or a one-page explainer)

Final Deliverables:

  • A visual communication concept guide (PDF or slide deck)
  • 2–3 designed assets demonstrating the FOYSE system to a non-technical audience
  • A short reflective summary explaining design choices and user intent

Zephlinear Ltd is a pioneering textile innovation company and the inventor of FOYSE® Technology — Fibre on Yarn Surface Entanglement — the world’s first patented process to manufacture noninterlaced textiles, representing a fourth category of textile construction beyond woven, knitted, and nonwoven.

At the intersection of design, engineering, and sustainability, Zephlinear is transforming how we understand and use fabric. FOYSE® fabrics are lighter, more breathable, and resistant to fraying and delamination. They can be engineered from natural, recycled, or functional fibres without the need for mesh backers or water-intensive processes.

With applications spanning wearables, sportswear, automotive, interiors, and defence, Zephlinear enables high-performance textile solutions that meet the growing demand for sustainable, adaptable, and scalable materials.

Driven by research, protected by international patents, and recognised with awards including Best Paper at SPWID, Zephlinear continues to redefine the future of fabric — one fibre at a time.
