We would like students to help us by creating a marketing plan for an Open Education textbook on Career Education plus create digital content that is aligned with our projects mission and vision. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization.

Career and Experiential Learning is creating an Open Education Textbook that will be free for students to use. This textbook will cover valuable information Resumes, Cover Letters, Job Search Strategies, Interviews and much more. Our textbook is currently in the editing phase, which means the book launch is coming. Being part of this project will allow you to create a marketing plan in addition to the digital content creation.

To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will:

  • Complete a marketing plan that identifies the following:
  1. Internal and External stakeholder lists (Clubs, Campus Ambassadors, TRU Employees, Industry Associations - Provincially and Nationally, BC Colleges and Universities)
  2. Identify Social Media Channels that directly connects with key stakeholders (including potential new channels)
  3. Best Practices for Social Media use (Written report)
  4. Year round marketing timelines plus content to align with timeline
  • Social media content creation for textbook launch Plus ongoing content support for year round marketing
  • Liaison with key marketing personnel at TRU to understand existing marketing channels and determining best approaches to delivering new content
  • Connect with BCcampus for guidance and best tips for Open Education Textbook launches
  • Training to Project Supervisor on how to implement the marketing plan throughout the year

Ultimately, you will be working on content creation for our Career and Experiential Learning Department, including video, social media, and other collateral that we can use as go-to marketing tools.

If you like the sound of our culture, and are ready to tackle this challenge with us, then we'd love to hear from you.

A student or team with excellent writing and video skills would be the ideal candidate for this project.

Mentorship
