Details

Shoo-Foo has been on the market since 2007. When we launched the company, our goal was to help introduce bamboo textile into the home linens market. Today, Shoo-Foo advertises a small collection of eco sustainable home textile products online. We are in the process of growing our products line and re-positioning the brand as the go-to brand for natural fibers at home.

Our team is looking to significantly improve the SEO optimization of our website to reach 2 major goals: 1) improve the speed of the site 2) increase organic traffic to the site. To do this, we hope to run an SEO audit of our website, and fix and/or the issues and weakness.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

Technical SEO:

Crawl Errors:

-  Use Google Search Console (or other tool) to identify and fix crawl errors.

-  Check for broken links and ensure proper redirection.

Website Speed:

-  Analyze website speed.

-  Suggest actions to improve website speed and reduce load times.

-  Implement few of those actions.

Mobile-Friendliness:

-    Ensure the website is mobile-friendly and provides a good user experience on various devices.

-  Fix issues, if needed.

On-Page SEO:

Keyword Optimization:

-  Analyze current keyword usage and identify relevant keywords for the home linens industry.

-  Optimize meta titles, descriptions, and headers with targeted keywords.

Content Quality:

-  Assess the quality and relevance of existing content.

-  Suggest improvement to the content structure.

-  Suggest types of content to be added to the site in the future.

Internal Linking:

-  Review internal linking structure to improve navigation.

-  Suggest internal links to relevant pages using natural anchor text.

URL Structure:

-  Ensure clean and SEO-friendly URL structures.

User Experience and Design:

Navigation:

-  Evaluate website navigation for a smooth user experience.

-  Improve the organization of categories and products, if needed.

-  Optimize images and multimedia elements for faster loading.

-  Suggest actions to improve the user experience.

Off-Page SEO:

Backlink Analysis:

-  Evaluate the quality and quantity of backlinks to the website.

-  Disavow toxic or spammy backlinks using Google Disavow Tool.

Google Analytics:

-  review Google Analytics to track website performance.

-  Suggest improvement to the site based on Google Analytics data.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities (this is basically a retelling of the steps above):

  • run a SEO audit of our website
  • identified and fixed issues and weakness.
  • improve speed and navigation of the site
  • ensured the website is mobile-friendly.
  • prepared a report outlining the SEO keywords we need to rank for in order to generate more organic traffic.

Bonus steps would include:

  • suggest content topics for future site-content and blogs posts.

Final deliverables should include

  • A SEO audit report outlining actions to be implemented in order to improve and maintain a good google ranking.
  • Suggestions for designs and writing topics for future blogs and/or social media content.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • what is our current google analytics?
  • what is our current SEO situation?
  • When and how much do we typically post on social media?
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.

We will also be available to discuss any idea or challenges the students might encounter.
