Details

Our company is developing crop disease testing devices for farmers and agronomists. We are close to completing the prototype development and therefore would like to fully explore the market and refine our customer segmentation model. We want to better understand our target market and the market fit of our product to the industry, so we can uniquely position ourselves for success.

We would like to collaborate with students to conduct market research.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Researching our target market and market potential (may include: talking with farmers, researching farming and agronomy).
  • Recommending strategies to improve our positioning, brand, products and services.
  • Additional steps in the process would also include:
  • Recommending strategies to differentiate ourselves from our competition.
  • Suggesting novel approaches for generating value for potential customers.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of our ideal customer profile and our market potential.
  • Understanding of what our customers want to see out of a crop disease product.
  • Understanding of our industry and our competitive position.
  • Recommendation of strategies to optimize our companies product-market fit.
  • Bonus steps would include:
  • Identifying our competitors' unique value propositions and advantages.

Final deliverables should include:

  • A final report outlining the key insights derived from market research.
  • A presentation to the founders summarizing the findings of the market research.
Mentorship

PathoScan founders will work closely with the student to ensure that the project is sufficiently supported. PathoScan intends to have meetings with the student twice weekly to ensure that the student is supported and that the project remains on track. The student will be added to the PathoScan internal communication channels (Slack) and can reach out to the team whenever they need.

We are happy to provide guidance to the student for any obstacles that may arise.

Agriculture

PathoScan is a startup focused on revolutionizing agricultural practices with its innovative crop disease detection device. By allowing on-site and immediate identification of diseases, the device eliminates the need for centralized lab facilities and the associated delays. This transformative approach not only reduces costs but also empowers farmers with timely decision-making tools to ensure optimal crop health.
