Students engage in professional industry practices through this fashion industry based workplace practicum. With this opportunity, students apply gained skills, utilizing critical thinking and reflective practice to synthesize practical knowledge acquisition with prior learning, as they help you towards your business needs.

Students come from our Fashion and Technology program, and have the ability to support companies with design, production and manufacturing.

Please note that students in this program will not be focusing on fashion marketing or market resarch.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. Students should complete 120 hours with your organization between January 2021 - August 15th, 2021. Students will complete workplace duties under the guidance of an industry supervisor.

Requirements

Third-year fashion and technology students are ready to complete 120 workplace practicum hours with your company. The intention of the work practicum is to allow students the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities to determine their strengths while further developing their knowledge and skills. Throughout their education students have experience creating patterns by hand and through Optitex. They are able to create specification packages, line lists and marketing materials using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Students also have training and experience in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicating and cooperating with management
