Expected outcomes and deliverables

Students will need to demonstrate that they have received real-world experience with an industry partner. The industry partner will be actively engaged with the students as a supervisor, mentor and coach. Students will provide:

  1. A 10 - 15 page report, explaining their problem statement and objectives, the methods they followed, The model they developed, and Their results;
  2. A 10-15 minute presentation
  3. The model(s) developed (in form of nD models), as well as the outputs generated (such as simulation animations; analytics; renders; etc.)

Project Examples

Requirements

Project Examples include, but are not limited to:

· Assess requirements for construction industry Building Information Modeling (BIM) planning

· Analyze BIM processes in integrated project delivery from project conceptualization to facilities management

  • Conduct project risk analysis using BIM processes
  • Integrate knowledge of various suites of BIM applications into project design, construction and facilities management
  • CAD Production and 3D Modelling activities

· Project Management and Delivery Teams

  • Data Collection and Documentation

· Converting site, architectural and structural 2D drawings to 3D models

· 4D 5D simulations

· Create renderings

· Site logistics and construction methodology

Example Skills Required of Students:

· Ability to write BIM Execution Plans

· Understanding design, construction and operation phases and alignment

Software:

o Revit (Architecture, Structure, MEP)

o Navisworks

o Dynamo
